Chandra Crawford

Sport: Cross-Country Skiing
Birth date: November 19, 1983
Birthplace: Canmore, Alberta
Residence: Canmore Alberta

Chandra's competitive spirit developed early, competing in the biathlon from age 11. A surprise first-place finish at the World Junior Cross-Country Ski Championships at age 16 convinced her to leave her rifle behind and focus on the cross-country sprint.

In her brilliant rookie year with the Canadian Senior Team, she collected five international medals in one month. Chandra's biggest accomplishment in 2006 was landing a spot on the 2006 Canadian Olympic team. In the World Cup events leading up to the Olympic Games, Chandra began a fast climb to the top. She won a bronze medal in the last sprint event leading up to those Olympic Games, and turned Torino Italy into a golden opportunity.

Chandra is a shining example of enthusiastic spirit: as she was standing on the top of the podium with a gold medal around her neck, CBC commentator Brian Williams said "If you're ever standing on top of the podium, this is how you sing our national anthem."
