How Afexa Participates in the Community
Supporting the 2010 Shoppers Drug Mart Weekend to End Women's Cancers
A team of 22 Afexa employees, plus their friends and family, joined thousands of other men and women in walking 30 or 60 Km over one weekend, and raising more than $1,000 each, to support the Alberta Cancer Foundation in their efforts to end breast- and gynecologic cancers, diseases that one in seven Canadian women will be diagnosed with in their lifetime.
Providing educational opportunities for young students
With eight laboratories conducting tests and experiments in biology and chemistry for research into immunology, neurology, the cardiovascular system and metabolic syndrome, among others, the Afexa facility in Edmonton's Research Park is a great place for students to learn about these fields, the scientific method, and related career opportunities, and for schools to provide concrete illustrations of the material their curriculum covers. The Afexa science team regularly conducts educational programs for classes from across the Edmonton area.
Supporting athleticism in Canada
Afexa has a long history with sporting organizations and elite athletes, including the ongoing support of the seven Canadian Sports Centres across the country, where 1500 of Canada's most promising amateur athletes receive their training. In addition to financial contributions to each of the centres for their daily operations, Afexa also provides COLD-FX® to the athletes, trainers, doctors and support staff, to keep Canada's athletes in peak health and at the top of their game.
