Whether you’re looking for a new outdoor activity or you need some variety in your workout routine, make the most of the cooler September air with fun exercises! Here are some activities that work out your whole body – including your cardiovascular health – while getting some fresh air and great views.
Discover new paths or roll through your usual one with an activity that works on your balance, coordination and stamina. Rollerblading works more than just your legs, too! As a workout that incorporates strength training as well as cardiovascular training, it’s a low-impact, full-body exercise.
If you don’t have a lot of space to work with or you’re looking to warm up before your regular exercise, jump rope is an effective cardio workout that helps to improve coordination. Put on your favourite playlist and jump to the beat. You’ll be sweating in no time!
Track your progress
Write out your routine and keep track of the things you want to accomplish in your day. At the end of the week, take note of the areas you were consistent with and which routines need some more work. Enlisting a friend to hold you accountable to your goals can also keep you focused.
Reward yourself Reinforce your habit with a healthy reward. This can be after you’ve succeeded or during your routine! Listen to your favourite podcast while you exercise, pick up a yummy latte during your walk, or reward yourself with your favourite healthy snack or some “me time” after you meditate.
